Afro-Asiatic Xchange:
Mission Statement
The Afro Asiatic Xchange is a love child born of a collaborative effort between Guns & Brushes Studios (Smokie Arce), and Healthy Soul, Inc. (Amber McZeal). Mission Statement
Afro-Asiatic Xchange is the heart of the cultural, culinary experience, bridging community through the xchange of creativity, culture, food, art and music--creating an opening for the nourishment of the soul. Fusion is a huge component of the Afro-Asiatic Xchange, which is evident in one of the dishes presented at the premier event: Tandoori Salmon Croquettes, bridging a Louisiana favorite with South Indian flair. Our collective intention, and the basis of collaboration between Guns and Brushes Studios and Healthy Soul, Inc., is to connect, upon the foundation of creativity. The monthly Afro-Asiatic event is the culinary arm of this intention, holding the space where this level of complex xchange can occur.
The premier event, Afro Asiatic Xchange: A Day of R.I.C.E.-Returning. Inside. Cultural. Evolution., was held on April 19, 2009. This event fused the Caribbean, French, Indian, and Creole cuisine. Dishes included Coconut Rice "Fruit-Shi", Aubergine Curry with stuffed Tomatoes, and Tandoori Salmon Croquettes with greens tossed in a Blood Orange Vinaigrette.
